Yomeimon. In its gorgeousness and elaboration in details, this gate is a compendium of cultures during the Edo period. Since the visitor does not get wearied of viewing it until dusk, it has another name “Sunset Gate.” Its official name was given by the Imperial Household after one of the twelve gates of the Imperial Palace. The inscription on the tablet beneath the front gable is an autograph by Emperor Gomizuo.
