HEAR IT NOW

CBS, 1950-1951

A 60-minute documentary program produced and written by Edward R. Murrow and Fred W. Friendly that was based on a successful series of record albums called "I Can Hear It Now." The albums replayed famous events previously heard on the air; the program applied the same format to current events, conducting interviews and doing reports from on location all over the world. Winner of a Peabody Award in 1950, it inspired the development of similar programs on the other networks: "Voices and Events" at NBC and "Week Around the World" at ABC.
