A 15-minute children's program based on the comic strip by E.C. Segar. The radio version was very similar to the Paramount cartoons and featured music by the same orchestra Victor Irwin's Cartoonland Band. Det Poppen was the first Popeye, later followed by Floyd Buckley and Jack Mercer. Olive Oyl, his girlfriend, was played by Olive La Moy and Mae Questal; and Bluto, his archenemy, was played by Jackson Beck. Charles Lawrence played Wimpy. The announcer was Kelvin Keech. Premium offered included cloisonné pins of Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy.
