RENFREW OF THE MOUNTED

CBS, BLUE, 1936-1940

A juvenile adventure series featuring the exploits of Douglas Renfrew, and inspector in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, based on the stories by Laurie York Erskine. House Jameson played Renfrew, who in many ways resembled Sergeant Preston: a sober, dedicated officer of the law. Joan Baker played Carol Girard, the romantic interest. The many animal sounds heard on the show were done by Brad Barker. Bert Parks was the announcer. Originally heard for 15 minutes daily, the show became a 30-minute Saturday night program in 1938.
