CBS, NBC, ABC, 1944-1954

A domestic comedy series featuring the lives of the Nelson family, Ozzie, Harriet, and their sons David and Ricky. Originally titled the "Ozzie Nelson-Harriet Hilliard Show," the format remained the same during almost the entire run, as did much of the cast. David and Ricky were originally played by Tommy Bernard and Henry Blair, but they began playing themselves in 1949, when David was thirteen and Ricky was nine. John Brown played Ozzie's neighbor Thornberry ("Thorny") and Lurene Tuttle played Harriet's mother. The program moved to television in 1954 with almost no changes in format or cast.
