THE ALAN YOUNG SHOW

NBC, ABC, 1944-1949

Originally heard as a summer replacement program in 1944, this 30-minute situation comedy featured the bumbling adventures of Alan Young, played by Alan Young himself. The cast of regular supporting players changed several times during the run, but included Jim Backus in his famous role as Hubert Updike and Ed Begley as Papa Dittenfeffer, father of Alan's girlfriend. The program was off the air during 1948, returning in 1949 for a final year.
